Telford and Wrekin Safer & Stronger Communities Partnership (SSCP) is made up of a wide range of public, private and voluntary agencies and is responsible for reducing crime, anti social behaviour, substance misuse and domestic abuse in Telford and Wrekin. The vision of the Partnership is:

Telford & Wrekin Council

Telford & Wrekin Council provides approximately 700 services for residents of the Borough. The Council is one of the top performing Councils in the West Midlands and is rated as a four star authority by the Audit Commission.

West Mercia Police

The Telford & Wrekin Division of West Mercia Police contain 20 Local Policing Teams across five command areas – Central, Newport, North, South and Wellington. There are around 322 police officers and 136 police staff, as well as Community Support Officers and Special Constables.

The NHS Telford and Wrekin is part of the National Health Service. Its role is to progressively improve the health of the population of Telford and Wrekin and to organise quality healthcare services.

Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service employ 593 members of staff who operate from 23 strategically located sites across Shropshire. The Service has three whole-time stations located in Wellington, Shrewsbury and Telford, 23 retained stations, Service headquarters in Shrewsbury and a training centre in Telford.

West Mercia Probation Trust

West Mercia is one of the 42 probation areas in England and Wales that form the National Probation Service. The Trust works with people who have committed different types of offences such as burglary, violence, car crime and sex offences. It provides probation supervision, offending behaviour programmes and specialist support services which can stop people committing further offences.

The Wrekin Housing Trust

The Wrekin Housing Trust is one of the largest independent housing providers in the Midlands with over 11,000 homes across the Telford and Newport area. With houses, bungalows and flats across the area, the Trust works hard to ensure that residents enjoy living in their homes, in communities where they feel safe and secure. It has a network of shops and local offices that are open between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, and also holds regular surgeries.

Telford Magistrates Court

Magistrates' courts are a key part of the criminal justice system and 95% of cases are completed there. In addition magistrates' courts deal with many civil cases e.g. family matters, liquor licensing and betting and gaming.

The TTC Group is a national driver training organisation. Its four main areas of work are the delivery of Drink Drive Rehabilitation Schemes, National Driver Improvement Scheme (NDIS) & Speed Awareness Programmes, Managing Occupational Road Risk, and Prevention activities with a range of organisations.

The Crown Prosecution Service

The role of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is to prosecute criminal cases investigated by the police in England and Wales. In particular, the CPS advises the police on cases for possible prosecution, reviews cases submitted by the police for prosecution (where the decision is to prosecute, determines the charge in all but minor cases), prepares cases for court, and presents those cases at court. CPS West Mercia is one of the 42 areas of the CPS across England and Wales.

 

West Mercia Police Authority
West Mercia Police Authority is an independent body comprising of 17 members responsible for securing the maintenance of an efficient and effective police service for the people of West Mercia. Key statutory responsibilities include: agreeing the annual policing priorities after consulting with local people and holding the Chief Constable to account to deliver them; setting the force's overall budget and the annual precept to be paid through the council tax for policing; and appointing the Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable and Assistant Chief Constables. In particular, members work with their local divisional commanders to monitor overall performance, oversee the operation of local policing teams and support partnership working with other local agencies, in order to deliver strong community safety.
