IMPACT is a county wide charity working across Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire with people who are concerned about their own or someone else's drinking.
Services provided in Telford include advice, information, counselling, support, referral and assessments.

The Community Substance Misuse Service (CSMS) is the first point of contact in Telford & Wrekin for anybody who is concerned about their drug or alcohol use. The CSMS provides advice and information about drugs, assessment, harm reduction and needle exchange services, as well as one to one support.

Safer Nights Campaign

 

Telford & Wrekin Safer & Stronger Communities Partnership have launched a Safer Nights programme. The programme links activities, interventions and marketing campaigns across the Partnership to prevent and raise awareness of alcohol related violent crime, and tackle ASB in the night time economy.

 

Telford & Wrekin Bar-Code

 

The Bar-Code campaign provides some key safety messages and advice to help you BE SAFE – BE SENSIBLE whether you are out on the town, or celebrating a special day.

 

Use the Telford & Wrekin BAR-CODE

 

BE SAFE

  • If you go out in a group try to stay together, never leave your friends alone
  • Designate someone in your group who will look out for you and make sure you get home safely
  • Don’t use unlicensed cabs or accept lifts from strangers
  • Never leave your drink unattended
  • Keep your valuables well hidden
  • If you have sex make sure you use a condom
  • Avoid confrontations and always try to walk away from trouble

BE SENSIBLE

  • Try to alternate alcoholic drinks with water or soft drinks
  • Pace yourself throughout the evening
  • Never mix booze with drugs. It can kill!
  • Don’t feel you have to keep up with your mates
  • Try not to buy in rounds, it will save you money too!
  • Know YOUR limits, Know when to stop
  • If you’ve overdone it lay off the booze for at least 48 hours to give your body time to recover

Friday 19th December 2008 sees the launch of Sanktuary which is a place to relax, to be calm, to be safe… to drink good coffee or a fresh smoothie, to eat brownies and other home baked cakes (all free - donations welcome)… to chill out, to phone a cab, to talk to someone.

Sanktuary is based in the community room at the back of Wellington Methodist church, next to the car park… follow the signs!
