Safer Telford and Wrekin Partnership works towards improving your feeling of safety and reducing the fear of crime.

This web page aims to show you what the Partnership is doing to reduce the fear of crime and improve your standard of living, and remember crime is coming down.

Anti-Social Behaviour:

A special hotline has been launched by the Safer Telford & Wrekin Partnership to help tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) in your area. This is a major campaign to crack down on anti-social behaviour in Telford and Wrekin and has the backing of the Police, Telford and Wrekin Council, The Wrekin Housing Trust and other enforcement agencies and partners.

Nationally anti-social behaviour is perceived to be on a much larger scale than it is in reality. However, the fact is that it does affect people’s lives and this perception leads to fear. We are committed to tackling and eradicating anti-social behaviour in Telford and Wrekin.

We have also established a Joint ASB Unit between Telford and Wrekin Council, The Wrekin Housing Trust and the Police who are addressing and tackling ASB across the Borough.

To find out more about reporting ASB follow this link.

There are a number of projects that the Joint ASB Unit have been working on to find out more follow the below links:

Community Support Officers:

We have introduced Community Support Officers to the Borough. The Community Support Officers have a variety of roles - tackling low level disorder and anti-social behaviour and carrying out routine foot patrols to increase visibility, deter would-be criminals and in turn, bring reassurance to our communities.

Follow this link to find out more about the CSO Target Team.

Domestic Abuse:

Safer Telford and Wrekin Partnership in 2007 introduced Specialist Domestic Violence Courts and Telford Magistrates Court. The introduction of the Courts has been very successful, and have also been supported by 2 Independent Domestic Violence Advocates.

The Freedom Programme is also supported by the partnership.
The Programme is a 12 week programme that is open to any women who wishes to:

  • Gain more confidence
  • Recognise what domestic abuse is
  • Help find support from other women and agencies
  • Help to understand the beliefs held by abusive men, and which ones they have shared
  • Look at effects on children

CCTV

There has been major improvements over the past 12 months to include the monitoring of the night time economy on a Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Borough Towns Initiative has supported the Partnership to deliver comprehensive coverage of the new bus station in Wellington.

Madeley also has seen vast improvements in CCTV coverage again due to the partnership working between Borough Towns Initiative, Parish Council and various partners across the Safer Telford and Wrekin Partnership.

Recently we have enhanced the mobile CCTV cameras working in partnership with the police to purchase 3 new WIFI cameras, which can be deployed short term to hot spot areas across the Borough.

CCTV provides not only the opportunity to detect and prevent anti-social behaviour and crime, but to provide reassurance to local residents.
